My Journey as a Designer: From Threads to Soulful Creation

Early Inspirations & Artistic Roots

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by beauty - not the kind found in perfection, but the kind that feels alive. I have always wanted to look differently, to stand out from the crowd, to express what I feel inside through what I create and wear. Art has been my language since childhood. I learned to paint, finished art school, and later earned a degree in apparel design. But even before I had a diploma, I was already creating with my hands - jewelry making was my hobby since school days, and I never let that passion fade.

Years as a Designer & Maker

For almost ten years, I worked as a designer and seamstress, creating custom garments for individual clients. Those years taught me not only technical precision but also empathy - the ability to listen, to understand a woman’s character, and translate it into form and fabric. I loved being part of that intimate creative process: from sketching ideas and cutting fabric to the final stitches that brought a garment to life. Every piece was a dialogue between me and the person it was made for - unique, unrepeatable, and deeply personal.

Over time, my taste and perception of beauty evolved. I found myself drawn more and more to natural textures, organic shapes, and earthy tones - to the honesty of materials that age and change beautifully. I realized how deeply connected I am to nature, and perhaps it comes from my roots - being half Lithuanian and half Ukrainian. There’s something in the folklore, the landscapes, the crafts of both cultures that speaks directly to my soul. The ethnic and bohemian aesthetic feels like home to me - free, expressive, and authentic.

Discovery of Eco Printing & Unique Creation

Discovering eco-printing was a turning point in my creative journey. It felt like finding a missing piece - a way to collaborate with nature itself. The process of using leaves, flowers, and minerals to dye and print on fabric is almost meditative. Every pattern is a surprise, every result unique. It pleases my soul in a way that no mass-produced technique ever could.

Birth of VIKA — Philosophy & Creative Vision

Now, I’m entering a new chapter - one that brings together everything I’ve learned and loved along the way. With VIKA, my own brand, I’m channeling all those experiences - art, fashion, craftsmanship, and emotion - into something deeply personal. Each creation is made slowly, with intention, using natural materials and guided by the same principle that has always driven me: to stay true to myself and create pieces that allow others to do the same.

VIKA is not just my brand - it’s my story, my philosophy, and my way of celebrating individuality through the beauty of nature and the art of handcraft.
