The Story of Materials: From Earth to Adornment

In my work, everything begins with materials. They are not just the building blocks of my jewelry - they are its soul, the quiet storytellers of each design. 

Beads and textures are the foundation of both my jewelry and the VIKA brand philosophy - natural, slow, and deeply connected to the earth. When I step into a bead or craft store, I always walk past the sparkling crystals and polished perfection of modern jewelry materials. My eyes search for something different - something with history, character, and imperfection.

I’m drawn to rustic textures and wabi-sabi aesthetics - the beauty of things aged, weathered, and unrefined. Cracked ceramics, matte stones, hand-carved bone beads, unfinished wood. These materials speak to me of time and experience, of nature’s patience and resilience.

Choosing Natural Over Synthetic

Today, the world offers endless materials for jewelry-making - from glittering synthetic stones to perfectly uniform glass crystals. But for me, true beauty lies in what’s organic and real. Natural materials like wood, clay, bone, leather, and semi-precious stones have a presence that can’t be replicated.

• Stones (Agate, Jasper): Formed deep within the earth over time - each unique, grounding, and protective.

Closing Thoughts
